Prayer for the LCEM and Chicago Diocese during Transition

Our Father in heaven, we come before you with thankful hearts for your faithfulness in loving and providing for us. You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We stand before you during a time of change for each of our parishes, the LCEM and the diocese of Chicago. Lord, as we proceed with these changes, send Your Spirit to renew us and refresh us. Open our hearts and minds Lord. Help us to discern Your will.

Guide us as we form a long range plan for our parishes and the LCEM. Constantly remind us that You already have the plan in place. Show us our common ministry and place us on that path. Give us ears that truly listen. Let us hear the meaning behind the words. Help us to be honest and open with each other. Let us speak with love and sensitivity to each other.

Grant us wisdom and understanding as we consider what each of the nominees for bishop has to offer as a shepherd for Your people. Lead us Lord, in electing the Bishop that You have chosen for the Diocese of Chicago at this time.

And Father, grant us courage in change. Let this time of transition be a time to strengthen our commitment to serve You and each other. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, the head of the Church. Amen.
